Link Resource Database
Links to reliable sources (news articles, research, and analysis) for informed opposition to dragnet mass surveillance.
This database focuses on facts and reporting rather than opinion or philosophy. The more reliable, the better. We're looking for things that can be presented to elected officials and other decision-makers as independent, reliable sources that they should take seriously.
Got one not listed here? Update or tagging suggestions? Email us.
From a mass surveillance company that wants to stuff this list full of propaganda? Go flock yourself!

π Humboldt County supervisors discuss budget, deficit - Times-Standard
Eureka Times-Standard Β· 2026-06-16
Humboldt County"Madrone told those present that he would not vote on a budget unless approximately $21,000 in funding to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, used to maintain the county's Flock license plate reader cameras, was cut. "I don't support Flock cameras and mass surveillance," Madrone said. "β¦ I've asked the sheriff to consider removing that from the budget and from our properties, but he has refused to do so.""

π Does Flock Safety Keep Women Safe?
Knock LA Β· 2026-06-15
Los Angeles Scope Creep"Integral to this crusade is the "Dear John" operation, a strategy to intimidate people whose plates have been snatched by ALPRs in transit along Fig, by sending ominous, implicatory letters to their homes. The City Attorney's office flaunted one of these lettersβwhich bears Karen Bass's name, as well as the Police Chief's βat a public presentation earlier this year. The letter reads, "A vehicle registered in your name was observed in an area where residents have expressed concern about crimesβ¦including prostitution. The LAPD wantedβ¦to remind you, it is illegal to engage in or solicit prostitution. The consequences for engaging in such illegal conduct may result in criminal punishment by jail or fine.""

π Vallejo City Council votes to cut 10 employees in first 2026-27 budget talks
Vallejo Sun Β· 2026-06-11
Vallejo"In public comment, Shea Grove asked the council to reject spending $332,000 in Measure P funds for Flock Safety, which provides automated license plate readers for the city, noting the growing cancellation of support for the company at many other cities including in Mountain View and El Cerrito. The Measure P Oversight Committee in May recommended use of the funds for renewing the contract with Flock. Matias and Councilmember Peter Bregenzer agreed that the council will hear from the Surveillance Advisory Board and the Police Oversight and Accountability Commission before committing Measure P funds to the current Flock contract."

π Humboldt County supervisors discuss Flock camera contract
Eureka Times-Standard Β· 2026-06-02
Humboldt County""I will say that I think you know what I've heard you say, Sheriff Honsel, often is that one of your best tools of all is public trust and the public's willingness to call you, call your department, and report crimes and provide you with information when you're trying to solve crimes. β¦ I suspect that there's a lot more crimes that are solved with a high trust level (than with trust-undermining surveillance).""
